ISIL terrorists execute 16 Sunnis in western Iraq

Dec 6 2014, Press TV

ISIL Takfiri militants have abducted and killed 16 members of an Iraqi tribe, which has been fighting the terror group in the western province of Anbar.

Tribal chief, Sheikh Naeem al-Ga’oud, said on Saturday that the ISIL captured the men from the Sunni Albu Nimr tribe three days ago.

Tribal members discovered their bodies in a water well after searching a location about 10 kilometers (6 miles) north of the town of Hit.

Medics said the bodies bore bullet wounds in the head and chest.

The ISIL has killed hundreds of members of the Albu Nimr tribe since October.

The Takfiri militants, who swept through northern Iraq in June towards the capital Baghdad, lost ground in the last two months to the north of the city. However, they have tightened their grip in parts of Anbar to the west.

Iraqi armed forces, supported by Shia fighters and Kurdish Peshmerga, managed to flush out ISIL militants from two towns in Diyala Province, northeast of Baghdad, two weeks ago.

Iraqi army soldiers have been fighting the ISIL for nearly six months now.

Anbar Province, which borders war-ravaged Syria, has been a major stronghold of the ISIL elements and continues to be largely controlled by the terror group.

The ISIL militants also control large areas of Syria’s east and north.

They have been carrying out horrific acts of violence, including public decapitations and crucifixions, against Iraqi communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, and others.
