Moments ago, the Syrian Arab Army’s 63rd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division – in coordination with Hezbollah, the National Defense Forces (NDF), and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) – have continued their advance inside the resort-city of Al-Zabadani, capturing a collection of farms after fierce clashes with the Islamist rebel factions.
The Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah captured Sahel Al-Zabadani and its surrounding farms, killing 19 enemy combatants from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Liwaa Suqour Al-Zabadani, and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra,” while also destroying four armored vehicles that were reportedly mounted with either a 23mm anti-aircraft machine gun or a doshka.
In addition to their capture of Sahel Al-Zabadani, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah conducted a number of successful attacks on Tuesday, advancing along Jamal ‘Abdel-Nasser Street and Main Street en route to Al-Zabadani’s downtown area.
Despite claims that Jabhat Al-Nusra had advanced in the northern countryside of Al-Zabadani, video footage from Al-Manar have negated these claims and verified the current positions of the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah inside the city.
According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah soldiers are in search of Jabhat Al-Nusra’s main tunnel from Madaya to Al-Zabadani; if found, this could spell trouble for this Al-Qaeda affiliate and their allies inside the city.
