Ankara is bolstering its military presence at its Syrian border, as footage filmed on Tuesday in Kilis, shows trucks carrying military vehicles throughout the night.
The deployment has come in the wake of US troops’ withdrawal from Syria in what seems to be in preparation for a military operation, which is to target the US-backed Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia in north-eastern Syria.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan however announced on Friday that Turkey had postponed the pre-planned military operation against YPG.
US President Donald Trump reportedly decided to withdraw US troops from Syria during a phone call with Erdogan on December 14, a decision which caused Defense Secretary James Mattis to resign in disagreement.
While details have yet to be announced, US forces are reportedly expected to be out of the country by the middle of January.
