Sources to Al Mayadeen from within Al-Rukban camp near Al-Tanf US occupation base confirm that Washington plans to prevent the dismantling of the camp to safeguard its military base.
The United States wants to preserve Al-Rukban camp in Syria in order to keep using it as a pretext it uses to “legalize” the presence of its occupation military base in Al-Tanf, northeast of the country.
Sources from within the camp told Al Mayadeen that Washington is working on preventing plans carried out by by Syria and Jordan, along with Russian support, to dismantle the camp, which is located near the Iraqi-Jordanian border and lies within the “55 km deconfliction zone” surrounding the occupation base.
The Washington-based Syrian Emergency Task Force SETF announced launching “Operation Syrian Oasis” allegedly aimed at delivering humanitarian aid to about 8,000 displaced people in the camp with the help of US military cargo aircraft.
The organization revealed that “the operation will take place with the help of the US Department of Defense, which provided support by transporting aid to the camp on a space-available basis through the Denton program on US military aircraft that are already traveling to Al-Tanf base.”
The Denton program allows US citizens and private organizations to use available space on US military cargo planes to purportedly transport humanitarian goods to countries in need.
Al Mayadeen sources confirmed that SETF
“is an American organization and is operating within a framework established by Washington in attempts to whitewash the US image and rebrand their presence in the eyes of the displaced civilians, who have suffered from US forces and their armed proxies, who have previously blocked aid and basic necessities, in addition to preventing the camp occupants from leaving.
“Many residents want to leave the camp, but they are under great pressure to prevent them from leaving, with continuous propaganda claiming that the Syrian state’s detention centers are waiting for any family trying to flee the camp,” the sources added.
The SETF aid, consisting of food, seeds, and daily necessities, has already arrived, “but it was distributed on a limited scale and in a way that does not meet the needs of the camp, which depended mainly on the aid of the Syrian Red Crescent before it was prevented from entering the area by the forces controlling the zone.”
The sources believed that “the distributed seeds do not serve the region, because the region is a desert and not suitable for cultivation at all,” adding that this maneuver “is exposed, and they want to maintain the presence of the camp for as long as possible.”
Al Mayadeen sources confirmed that “the aforementioned aid will be temporary and will not change the reality of the situation and the continuous deterioration of the living and humanitarian conditions of the camp residents.”
Al-Rukban camp in Syria hosts thousands of displaced civilians that fled the global war on their country led by the West and some regional countries.
