First: China gave the Assads a big welcome, and it was very much appreciated. The following short clip from Al Jazeera shows their arrival at the airport where they were greeted by officials, children bearing gifts and a band graced by cheerleaders in spring colors bearing flower bouquets and waving Chinese flags.
