Hezbollah Withdraws 1,500 Members from Syria, Shifting Focus to Lebanon Amidst Rising Tensions

by AL-SOURIA NET (Opposition website) , from The Syrian Observer, Thursday November 9th, 2023

It makes sense that Hezbollah would have to bring home some of its forces to fight the war on the southern border of Lebanon.  Good to know that the Axis of Resistance has redistributed its forces to cover Syria’s needs.  I hadn’t realized that Hezbollah’s forces were so deeply embedded in enemy territory.  Editor

Hezbollah has reportedly withdrawn approximately 1,500 of its members from Syria and relocated them to Lebanon. Local sources in Syria disclosed this development on November 8th, 2023. According to reports from the Anatolia Agency, Hezbollah initiated this withdrawal over the course of the past two weeks, summoning its members from various parts of Syria.

These sources detailed that Hezbollah’s members left positions in the 46th Brigade on the western outskirts of Aleppo, as well as from the towns of Saraqeb and Qaratin in the eastern Idleb Governorate. Additionally, members withdrew from areas in southern Idleb, including Maarat al-Numan, Khan Shaykhun, Kafr Rumah, Kafranbel, and Hazarin.

The withdrawn Hezbollah elements were reported to have headed towards the Qusayr area in the southwest of Homs Governorate before entering Lebanon. Notably, the sources indicated that the areas from which Hezbollah members withdrew were now occupied by Iranian-backed elements, including the Afghan Fatemiyoun and Baqir Brigades.

The decision to withdraw these members reportedly stemmed from recent clashes between Hezbollah members in southern Lebanon and the Israeli army along the southern border, dating back to October 8.

In other news, the Israeli occupation army continues its bombings in the Gaza Strip for the 33rd consecutive day, resulting in a significant number of casualties, including thousands of deaths and injuries, as well as extensive destruction of homes and infrastructure. Dr. Ashraf Al-Qudra, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, reported that Israel’s aggression has led to the death of 10,569 Palestinians since the start of the conflict, with over 25,000 individuals wounded. Among the casualties, 4,324 children and 2,823 women have tragically lost their lives due to Israeli airstrikes.
