Ten civilians killed and injured and 58 others missing and arrested during military campaign in village in Hama
Hama province: The Military Operations Administration carried out a large-scale military campaign in Ain Shams village in Masyaf countryside in Hama province under the pretext of “prosecuting affiliates of the former regime.”
Although the village had experienced an earlier reconciliation operation and its inhabitants are peaceful, the military campaign led to the death of three civilians, one of whom had been arrested, before being killed and dumped on a road to Hama, while the two others were killed during the attack. In addition, the campaign left seven other civilians injured.
It is worth noting that one of the media outlets filmed the campaign, while drones were covering the event, triggering astonishment of the village’s inhabitants who could not find out the reasons behind this campaign.
Moreover, 52 civilians, including children and elderly people, were arrested during the military campaign, while six others have gone missing.
SOHR activists have confirmed that the attackers opened heavy fire, triggering panic among residents, while some arrested people were brutally beaten and verbally abused. One of the arrested people was injured with a gunshot in his leg, according to SOHR sources.
Meanwhile, the village experienced a state of security tension following the campaign which coincided with clashes with gunmen working in centres for selling fire logs, along with closing the village’s entrances.
